You know what to do.

[ Because that's his name now, evidently. ]
what happened?
no subject
I may have mentioned it to him. [Mentioned isn't that far off the mark, really. There had been THAT little forethought on his part.]
He did not take it well.

okay
maybe we should talk about this in person

[ Because what is Tony ever doing if not working, let's be honest. ]
action
Tony. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important. It's only...it seems I cannot stop making grave miscalculations where the Maximoffs are concerned. I was hoping--
[He doesn't finish. He doesn't know what he is hoping for, exactly. But this is something people do, isn't it? Seek others out when they are lost and need to hear something other than their own thoughts? Beyond that, he hasn't exactly thought this through.]
action
Tony is seated cross-legged in front of the now-dark and silent Ingress, surrounded by a semi-circle of near-incomprehensible notes. He sets down the stack he'd been squinting at when Vision begins his distressed monologuing, which is at least evidence that he's taking this seriously. ]
Yeah, well, it's not just you. Talking to those two feels like walking on eggshells 100% of the time.
[ Tony makes a sweeping gesture to the room. ]
Listen - can you light somewhere? You're making me nervous.
[ With his floating and walking through walls and all. ]

[He sighs. It doesn't matter. Tony's assurances that he is not the first to fail in communicating with the Maximoffs, while kind, is of little comfort.] I understand Pietro's past was...troubled. It may have made him difficult to connect with, but the mistake was still mine. I don't know what possessed me, honestly. It never occurred to me that he could be here with no knowledge of what happened. That no one would have told him.
[He stares down at his hands. It is easier than looking up at Tony.] I am having trouble conceiving of any way to fix this.

That's what happens when you make a fruit salad with a bunch of screwed up people from different points in time.
[ Tony's hilariously under-equipped to offer useful advice here, but some bizarre feeling of responsibility for Vision compels him to at least make an attempt. But he can't really try if he's not clear on what actually happened. ]
What'd he say to you, exactly?
no subject
He was...angry. Perhaps much of his anger was not meant for me, but I became a target. Understandably, he was concerned for Wanda. Worried that she had been alone without him. I tried to reassure him that she had not, but...nothing I said made a difference. Like he couldn't hear me.

Look - you're right about one thing, it's not you he's pissed at. Stages of grief and all that, you know? There's denial and anger in there, I don't remember the order, whatever. Point is, nothing anybody says is gonna make a difference until he's sorted it out for himself. You could've said all the right things and it wouldn't have made a difference.
People aren't very good at confronting their own mortality.
[ Tony's pretty sure he'd know, if those hellish few months he was sure he was dying are any indication. ]
